WebJan 18, 2024 · Not sure about the tailgate assist part of it but on my truck, you drop the tailgate about 3/4 down and there is a spot on the hinge that allows you remove it off the passenger side post first and then it just pulls off the drivers side and thats after first disconnectiong the two cables which are slide clipped on.Hope this helps ya!!
