They will hold that a few days to make sure the fund is valid. I believe HSBC also hold funds, you just may not notice. Hold means it disallows you to take the money out at that period. WebbSo if you deposit a $500 local check on Tuesday, the bank has to make at least $100 available to you by Wednesday morning. It can release the remaining $400 to you on Thursday–the second business day after deposit since it is a local check and can be held until the second business day (see above).
